Mixtape Review: "No Satisfaction" by J.P. @THEBOYJP

After "Coming of Age", J.P. is back with a new project, “No Satisfaction”.  This project really made me see that J.P. was serious about his music and has definitely stepped his game up to truly connect with the listeners.  “J.P. Feat. Nevaeh - Never Satisfied (Intro)” , was a welcome introduction and I was impressed by how much more confident J.P. seems to be this go round and that is a big part of the rap game. The most quotable line for me from him on this track is “They wanna hear my accent, I wanna see their back bent”. That is the type of confidence I am talking about, not being afraid to spit something that may seem risky.r   “Rockin” seems to be the track that challenged J.P. the most but he mastered it and kept up with the tempo, I like this track the most because it seems to be the one that would  have the crowd participating the most because he just brought that energy with this one.  J.P. Feat. Nix, CLK Da Slinga & Jay Oliver -  “Change” was another one of my favorites because it features a few allstars such as NIX, CLK Da Slinga, and Jay Oliver adding to the mix bringing that lyrical aggression and no one holds back on their part, everybody is going in!  I love how everybody plays their part and no one is trying to body the other. #Respect.  “Wasting My Time” throws you for a loop because it begins with him telling the intended recipient of this message that they can have whatever they like, and then he goes on to say “Cause I’m done wasting my time”.  That is a relatable track to me because who hasn’t thrown their hands up and said you know what you can what you want cause I don’t give a damn anymore?  I see that J.P. is starting to craft his songs better and he is putting out some high quality music.  J.P. - Resurrection is another song that you have to play and I can ultimately see it becoming a hit, if he had to choose a single, this track would have to be it, it has a banging beat, J.P. is in his zone here and I SWEAR he is killing it, his flow is more polished, but he has to step it up and put more energy into his music and let it flow more naturally.  Overall, J.P. is getting better and this is his best project so far and I think it is worth the download, if you want to hear something different and banging give this project a listen.     Originality - J.P. doesn’t give that same old song that you hear in some rap music, you hear something fresh from this guy   Flow - His flow has improved since, “Coming of Age”, and he is now controlling the pace of his music and not letting it control him.   Lyrics - Lyrically J.P. doesn’t have to be “That” guy, but he is a decent lyricist.  I think he can impact the lyrical portion of his projects if he works on the lyrical punches a little more   Substance - I like the way J.P. doesn’t give filler in this project, he really works hard at giving the listener something to truly listen to.  I would love to hear his views on social justice and other issues as well.   Overall impact- J.P. is a growing artist with a lot of potential and he has the ability to make a huge impact with his music with a few tweaks to the lyricism but he is gifted and I know he can leave his mark.   Production - Here is where I think J.P. can improve, I believe that he needs beats that do not get away from him, but also give him the space he needs to own the track.  I think he would do great on trap beats or even west coast because they would challenge him to explore different content for the music.   My overall review of this project is an A - Keep Pushing J.P. ! Stay on the lookout for this kid !   About the Artist: J.P. is a white caucasian hip hop artist from Sydney, Australia. 'No Satisfaction' is J.P's 3rd mixtape and services as a sequel to J.P.'s sophomore mixtape 'Coming Of Age' released back in 2013. 'No Satisfaction' represents the ups and downs of J.P.'s personal life as he continues to progress in his music career. At the end of the day there is always something J.P. feels he can do better and he remains hungry to prove it.

Mr. 200 aka Noah Jones joins us tonight on the Producers Corner

Tonight's guest on the Producers Corner www.icebreakerradio.com (7:00pm central , 5:00pm Pt)

Noah Jones is living proof of hard work and believing in your dream brings forth progress and positivity. Many claim that rap is a young man's game - One look at Noah Jones and the resume he boasts proves those naysayers incorrectly. Born and raised in Peekskill, New York, Noah Jones moved to St. Louis in 1994 and California in 1999 where he currently resides. Picking up the lifestyles and musical culture from living all over the USA, Noah Jones learned how to appeal to listeners outside of his region. Noah was reading the New Times by the age of five and writing short stories at age nine. Always talented with his penmanship craft, Noah began writing lyrics at age eleven. By performing at talent shows and concerts around the country, Noah was able to build a fan base in both New York & California rapidly. Basing his writing on emotions and feelings, Noah Jones is able to tell personal stories and his life biography through music. Having experienced the hardships of an average nine-five working man, Noah relates to regular people that face real life problems every day. Priding himself off being not just a "rapper" but an artist as a whole, Noah illustrates masterpieces through the audio of his microphone. With his own individual identity and substance, Noah has been featured in countless magazines including Music Connection which scored his demo as one of the highest ratings they've ever given to an unsigned artist. As the progress continues, Noah performed with B.o.B. and Yelawolf at a 2012 Grammy party hosted by LRT Music and DJ Greg Street.
After a few independent albums hit the streets and did well, Noah had bigger plans for his "The Incinerator" album. Putting together a list of hot west coast guest appearances in a short period of time, Noah got the attention of many of the popular websites and blog spots. Being featured on AllHipHop & 2DopeBoyz numerous times, the websites and blog spots weren't the only ones taking notice. After a brief conversation with representatives from Universal Records , Noah signed on for distribution with his "The Incinerator” Album on ITunes, Amazon and more, "The Incinerator" boasts guest appearances from Nipsey Hussle, Crooked I, Jay Rock, Glasses Malone, Knoc-turn'al, Sly Boogy, Rain and more while production is handled by Focus (formerly of Aftermath), Jimi Kendrix (Jay-Z, DJ Kay Slay, etc) and more.
Noah is currently prepping a slew of upcoming projects as he continues to work on new music every day. Set to appear on numerous upcoming projects, Noah has recorded over 180 guest appearances in the last 6 months on his quest to be the first rapper in history to do 200 collabs in 200 days! With a few radio singles and major music video shoot for "N E Way U Want" produced by The Toybox Crew Noah plans on continuing his motto to further build his career -- hard work.

MUSIC REVIEW: Rello (@hello_rello570) - The Revelation EP (Phoenixstar9 Online)

Purchase link: http://hellorello.bandcamp.com/album/the-revelation-ep Rello works hard! This cat has two full time jobs and still pursues music and crashes on the scene with his first EP, The Revelation. The Revelation is produced by the amazing music producer, Gallo who helps Rello deliver a solid project with his organic hip hop instrumentation. I like Rello's sound for a couple of reasons, for one, you can understand the words that he spits, and not just on a comprehensive level, but he actually spits clearly, no mush mouth rapping. In Rello's intro not only reels you in through his hypnotic flow, he actually raps about something that you want to hear especially these few bars : "Not doing this for notoriety, this music is my passion, changing life is the goal that's driving me, shout out to the 99% whose scared and stressed, I make this shit for y'all to motivate your success", this was a dope song overall and his energy is positive, confident, and I love it. "Lucy" is an eviction notice to the drugs and violence and when you drop lines like this, "I'm sick of Lucy in my house, get out, I'm sick of Lucy having clout, get out, I'm sick of Lucy in the streets, disguised as a bag of drugs" you have to listen, he doesn't sound corny or lame, and it makes you stop and listen. I like this track because not only do you hear the frustration in his lyrics, you hear it in his tone and he is skilled at delivering his message. Rello is original and he reminds you of Lupe Fiasco, but unlike Lupe, he doesn't try too hard, and it's genuine. "Feel What's Real" is all about making sure people know what's real, while rapping over a hard hitting track that speaks on the anguish, the contradictions in hip hop, the rape of the culture by reality shows, and Rello brings it in a way that makes you say, "Damn he knows what the fuck he's talking about!" and his aggression and self assurance makes me listen even more deeply. Rello's last track, "Question", is more about Rello himself, and is a lot more personal where he reveals that he is stressed, tempted by things he knows he needs to stay away from but falls victim to at times, and some darker suicidal thoughts. He does something that many artists won't do, and that's revealing the chinks in his armor. Most records that I hear or at least 8 out of 10 speak only about what they have and many times many of their listeners are poor or struggling and this only creates a feeling of inadequacy, but Rello clearly lets his listeners know that he is right there with them in the struggle and that is an artist I can truly support. Rello is not average and this EP was a very noteworthy piece of work, I can't wait to hear more from him and see what other topics he touches on. I definitely recommend copping this EP, because Rello can actually rap, and it's not the same shit you hear day after day, so if you need something fresh to keep you motivated. https://m.facebook.com/hellorello570/?ref=bookmarks About the artist: Rello is a new hip hop artist in Northeast PA. His focus is music that speaks on current societal issues, and personal experiences. He is committed to making music his full time career, working up to 60 hours a week at two jobs, in attempts to make his dreams a reality. Rellos first EP, The Revelation, produced by Gallo, comes out March 31st, with plans to begin work on a full length album soon after. Contact info- jc2790@yahoo.com

Music Review: YP @RAYISYP "A CLEVELAND STORY: HEART OF THE CITY"

YP is an artist with a knack for telling stories and he illustrates that very well with his project, "A CLEVELAND STORY: HEART OF THE CITY".  “A CLEVELAND STORY: HEART OF THE CITY” gives you a look into YP’s life starting with the intro that features a news clip that sets the stage for YP, and the overall message seems to be, that it’s a jungle out there. “The Life I Lead” is a very revealing look into YP’s life and his struggles from being a father to being a hustler and how the end justifies the means of it all.  I absolutely love the flow YP delivers on “SoufSide” and how serious it can get in Cleveland.  The most notable tracks on the project in my opinion are “Just Sayin” Featuring Flyy And Big O because of it’s high energy and the chemistry between all of the artists, “Where The Playas Go” (Prod. Big O) because of the laid back feel and how YP just seems so comfortable and on his pimp shit with this one.  “Follow Me” takes you on a journey or at least a walk through YP’s stomping grounds and the one thing I will say about this track is that YP is not just rapping to hear himself rap, he puts his heart into it.  “The Lover’s Feel”, “Run To“,  and “Reflections I II”, show a more present YP who sounds sure of himself, but the one thing that I don’t really care for throughout the whole project is the inconsistency of YP’s delivery and I’m not talking about the cadences, but more or less his confidence level which makes him sound a little unsure of himself on tracks like “Hold Me Down” and “Flashbacks”.  On the track, “Obituaries”, YP puts us in our feelings with lines like “You help us cus you love us, sisters and brothas, and where you going can be viewed as scary, but we gon meet again, that time apart is only temporary”, and sometimes we need to hear music that makes us feel and YP has succeeded at it.  I think YP is a standout artist and he needs to accept the fact that he can be confident on the tracks because when he attacks a beat that seems to really fit him, he absolutely kills it.  Definitely worth the download!     What I loved: I Love YP’s dedication to Cleveland and the talent that he has when it comes to putting together songs that make you think and his stellar storytelling skills. What I hated:  The inconsistent confidence level in some of the songs.  I would love to hear a more aggressive YP and more soulful sampled beats because that is where YP seems to shine the brightest. About the Artist: Raised on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, Raymond “YP” Simpson came up around the roughest of conditions. Though he endured harsh surroundings, trials and tribulations, YP never foresaw music as being an outlet to escape from it all. “I always liked to listen to music or whatever, but I never looked at it as something to do or get into. My focus was life and the struggle my family was going through.” he answered in an interview. Survival was the motto of his upbringing. However, these early years would eventually lay the foundation for YP the man, as well as the artist. An artist of many talents and unable to find adequate help musically at the onset of his career, YP took it upon himself to learn everything on his known. He is now known as an accomplished producer/rapper/songwriter/engineer. YP has always been a lover of music and hip hop in particular but did not discover his talent for creating music until the age of 18. In 2005, during his sophomore year at the University of Toledo, YP would form a strong bond with his newly met roommate “J. Keyes” and the group/company Young Hustlas was formed. The Young Hustlas quickly built a following on campus, releasing three street albums in a two year period to feed their growing fan base. Feeling the need to expand musically, YP began work on what would be his individual introduction to the world titled: A Cleveland Story. The album would serve as a musical autobiography that detailed his life experiences. To further expand the YHE brand, YP has spent the last couple years producing and writing for other artists in Cleveland and many other areas. His first solo mixtape, “IT’S ON ME” was released in May of 2010. Also a collaborative EP with Cleveland based producer Big O was released later that year, aptly titled, “Soul of The Streets.” However, feeling burnt out and stressed from the rigors of the fledgling music scene he took at break from everything dealing with me music in 2011. A four year hiatus that included an engagement and 2 kids followed. Something about starting a family seemed to have sparked his creative juices. “Man I could not write anything for like 3-4 years. It was crazy. I couldn't create. Then it seemed out of nowhere the bars, the hooks, the melodies just starting flowing.” In early 2015 YP reconnected with long time collaborator Big O and began to finish what he started 4 years ago. Then a major setback hit in April 2015. While leaving his fiancĂ©e’s house, he was robbed and shot in the back, thus putting the music on hold for about two months. Once released from the hospital and fully recovered, his debut single “Where The Playas Go” Prod. by Big O was released on July 20, 2015. The follow up single “I’m Just Sayin” was released in August 2015. His debut album A Cleveland Story: Heart of The City was released October 13, 2015 to nothing but positive reviews. “I’m just working man. I’m just really trying to take this thing to the next level. Once I’m done, the whole world is gonna remember me. Thats the goal.” YP’s follow up album Joyous Pain is scheduled for a summer 2016 release. Debut album from Cleveland artist YP, A Cleveland Story: Heart of the City. The album is a journey of the highs and lows of coming of age in Cleveland.

ALBUM REVIEW: O.W.E. by FUTA (@futadabeast) #ps9online

About the artist: Set to release his debut album, "O.W.E" (Out Work Everybody), Futa has been grinding for years in the music world trying to create the right sounds and songs to represent his state. Coming out of Little Rock, Arkansas, he is one the biggest prospects the small city has gaining attention from all over the world. Review: Futa came to my attention about a year ago on this radio show that I was co-hosting and his track Y.A.T.C.L. was being played and I ended up taking a real interest in his music because he was different and offered something new and original.  On his new project O.W.E. he gives a very polished performance that has replay potential.  The intro is crazy, "Talking out the side of your neck when your speaking on Futa, have you hanging off a tree like an old pair of Pumas" then he launches into the next track "OSOM", speaking on his struggle and dropping too many quotables, "Procrastination or dedication, what it's gonna be", "I don't listen to opinions, only my conscience" and through his words and amazing but somber production he paints a very vivid painting of his life and where he's from "Welcome to the city of the unforgiven" definitely one of the top tracks on the project. "Living Legend" would be the song with the most radio single popularity because of the tone and the motivation behind it, imagine Future with hope and no syrup, that's what you get here, "Gotta get it how you live, Show them niggas you the shit, show them niggas that you working and you certain that you gonna make it big".  I absolutely love this track, the damn chorus is more than catchy it's viral, "I'm a living legend make my life a movie".   Futa has a strong team, and I can hear it on the track, "I Apologize" with Monsta,Syril J, and Endoe Nova make a strong album track here where everybody shines.  "U Da Man" is dope, because I am a strong believer in affirming or affirmations rather and the chorus that rings the truest to me is, "I look in the mirror and I say this, "U da man, u da man, u da man, nobody do it like you can".  That is so needed and this project is almost like a blueprint on how to succeed if you pay attention and this is another one of my top picks, it is also radio single potential.  "So Special" which seems to be for the ladies, from any other artist might be mediocre, but Futa's energy and his ability to switch up the flow is what sets him apart here and I think that the ladies will love it. "Ease The Pain" gave me that "My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me" vibe but it is something I feel that many of us that grow up in the hood faced and are still dealing with and it was absolutely relatable,  speaking on addiction and poverty, something many artists are not addressing.  "GrindMode" is a big standout track, and he shares his life on this survivor track,  "I've been talked about a lot, but never been pushed around, snakes grabbin on my heels but never been tooken down", but when he gives you the hook,  "Grind Hard same plan, nigga every single day,I ain't changing my beliefs, only changing up my ways", I swear Futa is up NEXT, we need this type of positivity without compromise.  "I Really Do Miss You Sometimes" is a nice track, that everybody can relate to if you have an ex that you don't have any communication with but you still miss, and Futa made the beat among others he made on this project! That shows me a lot about him as an artist, and that is he carefully crafts his work.  "Glaciers" was a great storytelling track that shows his versatility as an artist. "O.W.E." the signature track, which stands for "OUT WORK EVERYBODY", is the anthem for those that need something to keep going and that is the overall theme of the whole project, and  FUTA uses this track to reiterate his message, or at least what I believe to be his message, and that is, he outworks EVERYBODY, and we all need to have the hunger that he has to succeed and to make it out of struggle.   Futa is really the present and the future, so in short he's up next, and I think he has the talent and drive to be the next young icon out here in rap.  This project is one that will be played over and over on my mp3 player, because it motivates me, Futa's flow is ridiculously polished and aggressive when need be, and the production makes me really feel the song.   Rating: A+ https://savageproductions.wordpress.com
